Ruby by Kajal Perfumes – Gourmand meets fruit

It’s cherry with Ruby from Kajal Perfumes. The “it” fruit of the fragrance scene is presented by the brand, which was founded in 2014, in a luxuriously designed ruby red bottle in the typical Kajal style. I was able to take a closer look at the fragrance at Esxence and the bottle alone makes a real impression. Made of heavy glass, very high-quality and exclusive, with a silver lid decorated with white and red gemstones. On one side of the bottle itself is the word “Khajal” in Arabic script, which in the oriental language stands for modesty, humility and a respectful, friendly view of our fellow human beings.

Gemstone in red

Although cherries are indeed the olfactory focus of the Ruby composition, the fragrance revolves around a completely different subject: the ruby. A precious gemstone that is characterized by its deep red color. Like sapphires, rubies belong to the corundum family of minerals, which occur relatively frequently in nature and are highly sought-after in the jewelry industry.

The red color of rubies is created by adding chrome. Incidentally, the intense red color variant “pigeon’s blood red” is particularly popular – yes, it really is called that. High-quality rubies often come from Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Sri Lanka and Mozambique. They were once seen as symbols of passion, power and protection and were considered lucky charms in many cultures.

Many ancient cultures revered rubies because they believed that an eternal flame burned within them that would never go out or fade, making them a timeless symbol of true love. In the mysterious legends of antiquity, rubies were said to be the elixir of life from Mother Earth, which crystallized into fiery gemstones over thousands of years. These sacred stones became immortal symbols of love, vitality and the incessant pulse of life itself.

And what does Ruby smell like?

I will answer this question in a moment. First of all, I would like to tell you who created the fragrance. Perfumer Ayşe Sirkecioğlu was responsible for the creative work, combining the ingredients red berries, coconut, almond, pineapple, cherry, cream, powdery notes, gourmand notes, sugar, musk, vanilla, ambergris, benzoin resin and tonka bean for the extrait de parfum.

As you can see, Ruby combines two extremely popular olfactory themes. On the one hand, there is the cherry, which has played a particularly important role in the perfume world for several years now. I can’t tell you exactly how many cherry fragrances I’ve tried in the last two or three years. And despite the ever-growing number of creations based around the red stone fruit, I can’t get enough of them. I would like to see more cherry compositions, more fruit fragrances in general, especially now that we are slowly but surely approaching the warmer season.

In addition to the cherry theme, Ruby also contains gourmand notes, which brings us to the second, extremely trendy component in the extrait de parfum. Gourmand fragrances are all the rage at the moment. I remember, for example, the gourmand collection by Nicolaï with the creations Pavlova, Macaron Bourbon and Saint Honoré, all the pistachio scents, the chocolate crackers and olfactory popcorn variations… and with that I look back exclusively on the last few months on this blog. Gourmand is in, cherry is in and so I really hope that Ruby will completely delight me.

Kajal Perfumes - Ruby

Ruby starts with a fruity fragrance, which is quite expected. In addition to berry notes, I clearly perceive the tropical-sweet accents of pineapple and cherry, which are soon surrounded by a milky creaminess. Gentle and velvety, incredibly cozy and delicious, gourmand facets combine with the fruity, sweet nuances to create a powerful, present mélange that nevertheless has a certain lightness to it. Not a heavy sugar lump, but a balanced mix of fruit (I can still smell pineapple and cherry), crystalline musky powder, a portion of whipped cream (so airy!) and this almost flowing, creamy-milky component that is simply delicious. The extrait de parfum ends on a fluffy, comforting and vanilla-spicy note thanks to ambergris, benzoin resin and vanilla.

Ruby is a finely composed, creamy, milky and fruity fragrance that plays with notes of pineapple and cherry and combines them with cream, musk and vanilla. This could well be the recipe for a delicious dessert and indeed, the creation by Kajal Perfumes smells simply delicious. You almost want to lie down, dive in and enjoy, the composition is so seductive and exquisite. Perfect for anyone looking for elegant, modern and creamy fruit fragrances that have excellent longevity and a good presence without being too lush and opulent. Wearable all year round, for every occasion and every occasion, Ruby is an olfactory temptation that you can hardly get enough of. ❤️
