A few months ago, the fragrance house Atelier Materi launched a new line consisting of the three extraits de parfum Néroli Hasbaya, Burgundy Oud and Ambre Papier. These three not only stand out from the brand’s previous classic collection in terms of their intensity, but are also visually elegant and classy thanks to the deep blue bottle and label and the matt gold lid.
Founded in 2019 by Véronique Le Bihan, Atelier Materi is dedicated to exclusive raw materials. Each fragrance revolves around a specific ingredient, which is combined with special fragrance notes. In this way, the label creates a composition that brings out the respective facets of the raw material in a particularly beautiful way. In the fragrance diary, I have so far presented the following articles on the brand:
- Atelier Materi with Cacao Porcelana and Cuir d’Iris – aesthetic down to the last detail
- Santal Blond, Peau d’Ambrettes and Poivre Pomelo from Atelier Materi – A fragrant trifecta
- Rose Ardoise by Atelier Materi – flower in slate gray
- Cèdre Figalia by Atelier Materi – harmony and elegance
Néroli Hasbaya – Lebanese delicacies
Atelier Materi takes us to Lebanon with Néroli Hasbaya. However, it is not the country’s sights that are at the heart of this creation, but rather the baked goods of the Middle East. And so the extrait de parfum combines the ingredients neroli, pistachio, orange blossom, damask rose, musk, Peru balsam and sandalwood, which conceal many an ingredient of an oriental delicacy. The press release also mentions roasted hazelnuts and pistachios, a “warm, powerful signature” created by perfumer Céline Perdriel. Hasbaya is the name of a town in the south-east of the country, located directly on the Hermon mountain range in a fertile area where olives in particular are grown, but also other tropical fruits.
Néroli Hasbaya starts with the powerful and beguiling notes of greenish-fruity neroli, creamy orange blossom and the finest pistachio, which combine to create an extremely harmonious and intense trio. The rose brings airiness and freshness to the composition and prevents the extrait de parfum from becoming too dense or heavy. A pinch of musk powder supports the rose with transparent, crystalline facets before the warm, flowing nuances of velvety sandalwood and lovely, vanilla-like Peru balsam provide a wonderful and harmonious finish.
Atelier Materi’s extrait de parfum is a powerful and lush blend of neroli, orange blossom and creamy, warm, powdery floral notes that is very elegant and classic. In fact, I perceive certain vintage vibes, perhaps you feel the same? Néroli Hasbaya is ideal for anyone who prefers opulent, gourmand-creamy, not-too-sweet creations and loves orange blossom or neroli. For me personally, the fragrance would be too strong for work, but I would wear the extrait de parfum for any other occasion. I don’t see any seasonal restrictions here either. A present composition with excellent longevity and a very harmonious, finely balanced fragrance that makes you want to try the other extraits in this new line.
