I’m particularly looking forward to today’s two eaux de parfum Divine Vanille and The Musc from Essential Parfums, as vanilla and musk could be right up my street. And as I have already had the opportunity to sniff four creations from the French niche fragrance label, all of which have delighted me, I am confident that today’s two candidates will also hit the mark with me.
First of all, I would like to refer you to my last two posts of the collection, namely On a mission – The collection by Essential Parfums and Mon Vetiver and Orange X Santal by Essential Parfums, in which I introduced you to the brand itself as well as the first compositions. In addition to the two fragrances already mentioned, Nice Bergamote and Rose Magnetic were also exactly to my taste.
Divine Vanille – Olivier Pescheux
Bourbon vanilla, tonka bean, osmanthus, clary sage, benzoin resin, patchouli, black pepper, incense, cinnamon and cedarwood are the ingredients of Divine Vanille, a fragrance that – you guessed it – revolves around vanilla. Not some run-of-the-mill orchid pod, of course, but the bourbon vanilla from Madagascar, which is characterized by its exceptional olfactory and culinary richness.
This perfume is a tribute to the vanilla absolute from Madagascar. I love it for its depth, its sensuality, its elegance and its devotion. I wanted to reflect its soft, spicy and sensual facets, all imbued with mystery.
When I first sniff Divine Vanille, I spontaneously think: “Oh, the world can be so beautiful!” The fine, dark notes of liqueur-like vanilla flow into the composition, with a spicy background and creamy, balsamic nuances. Osmanthus, benzoin resin and patchouli form a delicately fruity, velvety and smoothly lovely trio that radiates gentleness, softness and comfort. Peach flashes up here and there in the creation before plunging back into the milky-boozy vanilla depths, which are so enveloping and fascinating that you want to jump in. Incense and pepper provide a subtle, dry, smoky coolness, while the cedar wood intensifies the warm sweetness of the creation.
I can rarely get past well-made, extraordinary vanilla fragrances, and Divine Vanille is right up my street. A deep, multi-faceted and seductive spice fragrance that is liqueur-like, spicy, smoky, warm, balsamic and wonderful. Anyone who loves bourbon vanilla will not be able to avoid this creation. Divine Vanille is absolutely suitable for every day and office use, and can also be applied for an evening date or a cozy afternoon in front of the fireplace. I tend to wear it in the cooler seasons, fall and winter, but the eau de parfum is definitely unisex. My conclusion: definitely try it, it’s worth it!
The Musc – Calice Becker
Now I’ve already been blown away by Divine Vanille – in a positive sense, of course – but I still have enough left over for our second fragrance of the day, which goes by the minimalist name of The Musc. French perfumer Calice Becker – who we know from various creations for Kilian, Parfums de Marly or Piguet – was responsible for the olfactory realization and used the ingredients ginger, lavender, beeswax, musk and sandalwood. Calice Becker on The Musc: “I imagined this fragrance as a cloud of enveloping and soothing musk. A delicious musk blended with red ginger, lavender, a radiant floral heart and the soft, woody tones of a sublime sandalwood from Australia. I like to add a touch of intrigue, because nothing grabs attention like the hint of the unexpected.”
The Musc is the clean fragrance in the Essential Parfums collection, which of course you could have guessed beforehand. Clean, fresh, a laundry scent, minimalist, also synthetic, bright, radiant, airy and transparent. The eau de parfum is all of these and combines these different facets in a wonderful way. The herbaceous, tart freshness of lavender meets cotton-soft musk, velvety-warm sandalwood and creamy beeswax.
Ideal for all friends of clean creations, of fluffy musk (without a major powder component), of synthetic-inspired and reduced fresh-underwear fragrances that can be worn as absolute all-rounders for any occasion and any season. Quite different from our first candidate today and yet The Musc hits the mark for me. I know I’m repeating myself, but here too: absolute test recommendation! 🤍
