The traditional French fragrance house Jovoy has recently launched a new fragrance with the sonorous name Aqua Memorabilis. On the one hand, this sounds very distinguished, which is certainly due to the Latin, but on the other hand it is also really beautiful. The name of the creation can be translated as “memorable water”, which gives us an idea of something really great, which is also reflected in the images for the eau de parfum. Doesn’t the picture really make you want to sniff the fragrance?

Aqua Memorabilis – A fragrance worth remembering
I really hope that Jovoy stays true to itself with the Aqua Memorabilis eau de parfum. Because all the creations I’ve tested so far have been simply stunningly beautiful. If I had to choose one or two favorites, it would probably be Remember Me or Fire at Will, although all the other fragrances are so special, sophisticated and incredibly elegant, expressive, modern and timeless at the same time. Aqua Memorabilis was once again created by perfumer Vanina Muracciole, who has also created Touche Finale, Musc Pallas and Fire at Will for Jovoy. She used the ingredients clementine, bitter orange, grapefruit, pink pepper, violet, pepper, clementine, cedarwood, vetiver, sandalwood, musk and ambergris for the fragrance.
“The delicacy and roundness of Italian clementine is the prelude to this powerful and harmonious fragrance. A warm, spicy heart reveals the nobility of sandalwood and vetiver, accompanied by an overdose of cedarwood. A hint of raspberry and oakmoss adds sparkle to this volcanic accord.” – Vanina Muracciole
A fragrance to remember
Aqua Memorabilis starts with the finest notes of hesperides, accompanied by a delicate peppery spiciness. The fruit peel accents are clearly perceptible, subtly tart and fruity. The clementine stands out clearly in the array of aromas, but bitter orange and grapefruit can also be sniffed out. With the appearance of violet, floral powder nuances enter the fragrance, adding softness and smoothness to the spicy-citrusy opening.
This is also the moment when the fragrance seems to change. Although the citrus fruits are still clearly perceptible, the composition becomes warmer, creamier and more cozy. The cologne-like facets of the opening are given a wonderful depth and tranquillity as well as a fine sweetness by the velvety woody notes of sandalwood and cedar. The composition ends with ambery-powdery and comfortingly warm nuances.
Aqua Memorabilis certainly has traits reminiscent of a cologne. The word Aqua, meaning water, makes you think of a rather light, sparkling composition. But Jovoy’s eau de parfum is so much more than that. Thanks to the citrus-pepper melange, the opening is reminiscent of an eau de cologne, but not so airy, not so lively and lively, but radiating a cozy calm and sovereignty right from the start. The opening is certainly refreshing, but Aqua Memorabilis impresses with its excellent longevity and a good presence that goes far beyond the usual, fleeting eau de cologne.
The further course of the composition is particularly exciting for me, as the fragrance gradually becomes wonderfully woody, powdery and warm. At the same time, the hesperides remain detectable and breathe a certain lightness and freshness into the creation. It is a wonderfully composed, very harmonious, elegant and timeless fragrance that is just as beautiful as its name suggests. Absolutely recommended, not just for Jovoy fans!
