Melipona, Suprême Nectar and Etoile de Bali by Nectar Olfactif

In the second part on the Nectar Olfactif brand, I would like to introduce you to the Extraits de Parfum Melipona, Suprême Nectar and Etoile de Bali. In my last review (read it here), I already presented the label itself and the Secret du Nil fragrance, which I loved. A quick reminder: David Perrin’s brand is all about exquisite raw materials and was inspired by bees. Thus, in all four extraits de parfum, we have some form of contact with the industrious honey producers, be it in the form of golden, sweet honey or blossoms or the bees themselves. Nectar Olfactif presents us with an exciting subject here, and the realization of Secret du Nil was already to my taste.

Nectar Olfactif - Melipona

Melipona – the Mexico bee

Despite studying biology, it was new to me that there are also stingless bees. Admittedly, neither my major nor my minor subjects were in any way anchored in zoology, which could possibly explain this gap in my knowledge.

So I’ve learned something new: there are bees without stingers, and quite a few of them. However, they do not occur naturally in our temperate latitudes, but prefer warmer climes. In the tropics and subtropics, there are many stingless bees that rely on caustic secretions or bites instead of a venomous stinger for defense purposes.

The Melipona bee belongs to the same unstinged insect genus and is found in Mexico, among other places, where it is said to pollinate vanilla blossoms, which immediately reveals an important ingredient in Extrait de Parfum Melipona: Vanilla. Perfumer Serge de Oliveira – currently a welcome and frequent guest on this fragrance blog – combines the ingredients bourbon vanilla, cashmere wood, Iso E Super, ambergris, musk and sugar.

Nectar Olfactif - Melipona

Light, fluffy and wonderfully sweet, Melipona reveals a wonderful blend of roasted-caramel sugar nuances, lovely vanilla spice and the amber-skinned softness of Iso E Super. The composition shimmers in a beautiful golden hue, wonderfully powdered by crystalline, light musk and surrounded by velvety amber warmth. Enveloping, sensual and utterly fascinating, yet always soft, airy and sweet. Simply beautiful!

Melipona is like a gentle kiss that tastes of vanilla sugar and ambery musk powder. I would classify the presence as medium, the longevity is very good, which I particularly like with more transparent fragrances. This delicate hint that is perceptible throughout the day, but never becomes too much. Gorgeous! Absolutely delicious, perfect for anyone who loves sweet, delicate and spicy-gourmand compositions that can always be worn seasonally and with regard to the time of year. 🐝

Suprême Nectar – Fragrant almond blossom

Perfumer Amandine Galliano was responsible for the creative realization of Suprême Nectar, described by Nectar Olfactif as an “ode to the almond”. The almond blossom has a special charm, not only for honey bees. Numerous tourists admire the blossoming almond trees in many places, whether here in Germany, Spain, Italy or wherever else the thermophilic plant, which probably originates from Asia Minor, is cultivated. The ingredients of Suprême Nectar naturally include almonds, which are combined with ambergris, almond blossom, honey, sandalwood, musk, patchouli and vanilla.

Nectar Olfactif - Suprême Nectar

The creamy, marzipan-like nuances of roasted almonds permeate the opening of Suprême Nectar, making the fragrance a gentle, milky-soft and smooth delight. In keeping with the style of the creations tested so far by this still young label, this extrait de parfum is also of the softer, quieter variety. A fine honey sweetness flows into the composition, which gradually reveals the warm, velvety notes of sandalwood that give Suprême Nectar depth and cozy moments. The fragrance gradually fades with powdery-creamy and ambery-woody almond nuances.

If you like almonds and their special creamy-soft facets, you should definitely put this extrait de parfum on your must-try list. A beautiful, very harmonious, elegant and transparent creation all about almonds that is simply fun to wear. Very modern, airy and seductive, Suprême Nectar is a lovely, uncomplicated and absolutely easy to wear fragrance companion for every occasion and every season. Superb! 🧡

Etoile de Bali – Star of Bali

Nectar Olfactif’s fourth and, for the time being, last fragrance takes us to the Indonesian island of Bali. The It-destination is the place to be for many tourists who are attracted by the beautiful beaches, the numerous sights and the enchanting nature. Etoile de Bali is dedicated to the flora of the island, precisely the diverse flowers that can be found everywhere. Perfumer Serge de Oliveira combined the ingredients bergamot, mandarin, freesia, lily, honey, green notes, sandalwood and musk for the creation, which are intended to reflect the floral richness of Bali.

Nectar Olfactif - Etoile de Bali

Etoile de Bali opens fresh, sparkling and citrusy-lovely. Tart, sparkling citrus fruits merge with the aquatic, creamy floral nuances of freesia and lily and golden yellow honey sweetness to create a beguiling and thoroughly opulent fragrance. In fact, this extrait de parfum is the most intense in the brand’s collection to date and once again presents a completely different variation on the basic theme of “honey”. Grassy, leafy greenery joins in, underlining the floral bouquet and lending it Asian-meditative traits before Etoile de Bali finally fades out with powdery, warm and gentle notes

The last fragrance in this round is airy, bright, lucid, wonderfully floral, honey-sweet and quite lush. A little louder and more present than the creations tested so far, but always stylish, harmonious and never too much. Perfect for anyone who likes expressive floral fragrances with honey and green notes that are suitable for everyday wear and the office. In my opinion, it is more suitable for the warmer months of the year than for cooler temperatures, but overall just as pleasant, uncomplicated and seductive as the other three creations from Nectar Olfactif. Not just a must-try for Bali fans! 🧡
