Fiori di Mare and Blu Profondo complete the Perris Portofino Collection by Perris Monte Carlo. I would also like to refer you to my last article Perris Portofino Collection – The Beauty of the Ligurian Coast, in which I presented the two eaux de parfum In Riviera and Bel Sole. Perfumer Luca Maffei created all four compositions and was inspired by the picturesque town of Portofino for each of them. A walk to the Castello San Giorgio, situated on a hill overlooking the bay of Portofino, led to the fragrance In Riviera. A relaxed visit to the piazetta on the town’s harbor, enjoying the sun and the hustle and bustle, was decisive for the creation of Bel Sole.
Fiori di Mare and Blu Profondo both sound like sea fragrances to me. Clearly more marine than In Riviera and Bel Sole. We will soon find out whether this impression is confirmed in the test. Interestingly, both of today’s candidates are not only available as eaux de parfum, but also as room fragrances – Fiori di Mare as a scented candle and Blu Profondo as a diffuser – and both fragrances also have their own skin care range with bath & shower gel and body lotion.
Fiori di Mare – Blossoms of the sea
Peach blossom, pink pepper, fleur de sel (sea salt), grapefruit, blackcurrant, peony, jasmine, rose, musk, sandalwood, vanilla and patchouli are the ingredients of Fiori di Mare. Perfumer Luca Maffei was inspired by the scent of jasmine growing on the Ligurian coast, which blossoms in the evening hours and fills the air with its wonderful, beguiling nuances.
A floral musk fragrance with bright and crystalline notes and a top note of pink pepper and grapefruit, embraced by peach blossom and a salt accord. The floral heart allows the notes of peony, white rose and jasmine to shine through. The powerful base notes of sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla and musk give the fragrance an enveloping sillage.
Fiori di Mare starts the fragrance with beautiful, white floral notes that are lush and powerful. These are very light, transparent and not at all heavy, as one might expect from magnificent floral bouquets. No, in Fiori di Mare they are expressive but have wonderful, airy aspects, as if a cool breeze were blowing through a flowering shrub. The hesperides bring a subtle citrus note to the composition, accompanied by a maritime-like saltiness that is also very restrained. The creamy, powdery flowers are at the heart of this eau de parfum, while the other ingredients underline and nuance their floral notes. A delicate fruitiness can be sniffed out, a hint of peach, so velvety and fine. Soft, light woods and crystalline musk powder allow the composition to slowly fade away.
Fiori di Mare is a beautiful, sunny and summery mix of white flowers, delicate fruity and maritime-salty notes that should appeal to anyone who loves airy, powdery floral creations with a medium presence and a positive mood. Does Fiori die Mare make you long for a vacation? It does for me, and it also puts me in a good mood. The eau de parfum contains fewer marine notes than expected, but I actually think that’s a good thing. A great, pleasant and sociable fragrance companion for every occasion. 🩵
Blu Profondo – Dive into the deep blue
With Blu Profondo, we are probably looking at a real sea fragrance, as the name suggests. Luca Maffei used his impressions of a sailing trip on the Gulf of Tigullia off the coast of Portofino in this creation. The intense blue color of the water, the scent of the salty air, the warmth of the sun – all of this is reflected in Blu Profondo. The ingredients are mineral notes, bergamot, jasmine, maritime notes, ambergris and patchouli.
Fresh, tart, salty and with clear marine notes, Blue Profondo is the maritime fragrance par excellence within the Perris Portofino Collection. All fans of this fragrance family will find exactly what they are looking for here. The creation is harmonious throughout, very harmonious and balanced. The citrus fruits provide tart, sparkling nuances that are accompanied by dry mineral notes. The salty, greenish accords of the marine notes blend beautifully into the overall olfactory picture, defining the creation without dominating it.
Blu Profondo is a very elegant, summery-fresh maritime fragrance that has a rather classic feel, with subtle, citrusy-fruity accents and a medium presence and longevity. The eau de parfum is an absolute all-rounder in the warmer seasons, which can be worn in everyday life as well as in the office, during sports or even in the evening. Anyone who likes maritime fragrances that are not overly aquatic, but instead focus on marine nuances, should definitely remember Blu Profondo and add it to their must-try list.
