From February 19 to 22, Esxence 2025 was in Milan and this year I was able to accompany the Aus Liebe zum Duft team there. As you can imagine, my anticipation was huge. Four of us traveled: the two managing directors Liesa and Dennis Fuchs, Julia from Purchasing and myself. A good team, as it soon turned out, because we had a lot of fun together and quite a few laughs.
Completely stress-free …
… we arrived on Tuesday. The flights all went smoothly. I made a short stopover in Frankfurt, where I met up with the other three, who are from the Bruchsal area, while I took off from Hamburg. Milan welcomed us – contrary to the weather forecast, which had promised a hint of spring and sunshine – just as gloomy and cold as the German homeland. But at least it wasn’t raining, which was good.
A metro ride took us from the airport to the hotel, which was not far from the trade fair. After a short stopover at our accommodation, we headed straight for the city center and took the opportunity to do a little sightseeing around Milan Cathedral, sniffed our way through the perfume department of the Rinascente department store and finally found a small, fine pizzeria where we could satisfy our hunger.
We ended the evening in the hotel bar and then went to bed early, because the next day was going to be exciting: Esxence 2025 was starting and we were right in the middle of it instead of just being there. But first I would like to show you a few more pictures from Milan, because the area around the cathedral is simply architecturally beautiful.
February 19, 2025 – Get the party started
After a hearty breakfast, we made the short journey to the exhibition grounds, where we were surprised by a seemingly endless queue of people. The rush to the trade fair was already huge on the first day this year. Numerous influencers arrived with an entourage and quite a few of the fragrance enthusiasts tried to push their way to the front of the queue, which naturally caused all kinds of displeasure among the bystanders.
After about 45 minutes of waiting, we were inside the building and I was already overwhelmed within the first few meters. The entrance area in elegant blue with a floating moon and cloud formations pointed to the motto of Esxence 2025: Masters of Dreams. A few steps further on was the exhibition room, as usual in black, which was simply huge.
Right at the beginning we discovered the stands of Paolo and Tiziana Terenzi, from Jovoy. A few meters further on, I discovered Gabriel Gabor from De Gabor, who was chatting animatedly in a striking black and gold jacket and presenting his fragrances. Diagonally opposite, I spotted the stand of Simone Andreoli, who was presenting his new fragrance Tulum Junglescape, a sparkling green, tangy, tingling freshie that should be just the thing for the coming summer. Of course, it will also soon be available at Aus Liebe zum Duft.
There was a big crowd at the Kajal Perfumes Paris stand, partly because there were practical shoppers in transparent red, which were an absolute hit. Of course, we bought them straight away, as they gave us a way to store our jackets neatly. After waiting so long at the entrance, we didn’t want to queue at the checkroom … the queue there also felt endless.
In addition to practical bags, Kajal Perfumes Paris also had a beautiful photo wall in front of which a photographer took our pictures. As a third highlight, the brand also presented a new fragrance at Esxence 2025: Ruby. In a sophisticated ruby red and in the typical style of the niche fragrance label, the creation combines red-fruity, creamy-milky and gourmand-spicy facets and thus picks up on the still very popular fruit and cherry theme, which could also be found everywhere at the trade fair this year.
So cherries and fruits in general are still absolutely up to date and there are some fruity fragrance treasures coming, which I will tell you about in the next few days. Diagonally opposite Kajal was EMIL ÉLISE, who hadn’t brought a new fragrance with them, but whose stand was always well attended and was also a visual eye-catcher with its bright yellow presentation.
A new discovery for us was the new brand BLNDRGRPHY by HUNQ founder Hyun Yeu (see above). Incidentally, the atmosphere was much better than the photo suggests. 😉 Hyun Yeu presented us with the label’s five creations, which are based on cocktails, which is also reflected in the names and compositions.
Jasmine Martini (bright, lucid, minimalist), Patchouli Mojito (transparent, fresh and ultra-modern), Vanilla Mudslide (gourmand-spicy and the absolute top hit!), Amber Negroni and Santal Painkiller (tropical-fresh pineapple with pina colada vibes) will certainly not be the last we have sniffed at Aus Liebe zum Duft.
The extraits de parfum are rounded off by clean, milky-transparent flacons in various cheerful colors and a high-quality concrete lid, which creates an exciting and great contrast. More impressions and discoveries from Esxence 2025 tomorrow – stay tuned!
