Be my Cookie – Cookie crumbs in bed

Today, Be my Cookie and Angels’ Powder from BORNTOSTANDOUT are on the fragrance program. The Korean niche label has made quite a splash, you could say, and has won over many fragrance fans with its unusual design and provocative language. Especially as renowned noses are behind all the creations. Great fragrances, great concept. So let’s see what surprises the two creations have in store.

Be my cookie, you crispy treat!

With Be my Cookie, BTSO strikes a chord with unambiguous ambiguities. As the beautiful term “vernaschen” suggests, the pleasures of the palate are closely linked to the erotic ones. According to BTSO, “Be my cookie” is dedicated to all those who crave both the sweet and the dirty. Lust meets gluttony and here it is the best of both worlds.

You might think that the work is done with an overwhelming gourmand. But Véronique Nyberg has not made it that easy for herself and has added a twist that really packs a punch.

BORNTOSTANDOUT - Be my Cookie

The prelude was first dipped in sticky sweet raspberry liqueur, which drips off a little and then releases the chocolatey cookie notes. Crispy cookies with golf ball-sized pieces of chocolate and rolled in a thick layer of vanilla sugar. Attention diabetics. Your blood sugar levels will go through the roof. Under the blanket, however, completely different notes crawl through the sheets. On the test strip, these remain largely under the radar, but on the skin, the animalistic desires come to the fore. For me, it’s as if the vanilla is tipping over and stewing all at once. Coked musky softness. The culprit is of course Castoreum, which is notorious for its animalic, leathery-smoky notes. Incidentally, the combination is strongly reminiscent of pipe tobacco. The product text even mentions skatole. This is a completely different caliber, see Wikipedia. However, I have to say that the fragrance does not go in this direction, i.e. it does not contain any – let’s call them – “stable notes”.

… sweet enough to lure you in and dirty enough to get you hooked. For lovers who crave the taste of the forbidden …

My conclusion: If you are looking for a pure gourmand fragrance, you might be disappointed here. If you are looking for a gourmand fragrance with a double bottom and an animalistic surprise, this is the right fragrance for you.

Top notes: raspberry
Heart notes: gourmand notes, castoreum
Base notes: bourbon vanilla, musk, animal notes

Angels’ Powder – a colorful scent

Angels’ Powder continues to be sweet in any case, that much can be revealed. And no, it’s not about illegal motivational powders for the nose, because Anne-Sophie Behaghel has been entrusted with the difficult task of bottling childhood dreams.

BORNTOSTANDOUT - Angels' Powder

Behind the title lies a wonderful creation with a guaranteed good mood. The strip smells almost colorful. That’s actually my first impression. Bright rainbow colors. The top notes include nail polish, pink pepper and icing sugar. I would say it smells like colors and crayons. Maybe my brain is playing tricks on me, but I also think I detect the woody scent of freshly sharpened pencils.

Angels’ Powder is a cloudy, soft, sweet, sugary fragrance that shifts fleetingly from one note to another. What it is not is a depiction of a summer afternoon at the fair, because the notes are sometimes too synthetic and sometimes too abstract for that. Sometimes chewing gum squeaks, then cotton candy sticks to your fingers, then it’s lacquered wooden toys and suddenly it’s a fruit candy again.

Childhood dreams bottled up. Cotton candy, nail polish and a hint of colorful scents awaken playful mischief. The playtime never ends.

The basic mood is exuberant, playful, light, a little over the top, but not nostalgic. How could you categorize Angels’ Powder? A synthetic, purdy, cloudy gourmand. Is that something for you?

Top notes: sugar, pink pepper (nail polish, pink pepper, icing)
Heart notes: raspberry, sugar (vanilla sugar, raspberry, cotton candy)
Base notes: heliotrope, guaiac wood, white musk
