I definitely feel like spring. So today I’m turning to aloeae by Nomenclature, a creation that I faintly hope will satisfy my longing for the onset of the warmer season, for greenery and flowers. The New York brand Nomenclature was founded by Karl Bradl and Carlos Quintero and is fully committed to synthetic fragrances. As the look of the aloeae bottle quickly tells me, the eau de parfum is part of the Modern Eclectics Collection, as are the creations minted, wood dew, neo rose, palmetto and pink ivory, which I already presented to you here in November 2022.
Here are my previous contributions to the Modern Eclectics Collection, which are “long-lasting fragrance symphonies for the digital age. […] Distinctive yet easy to wear; striking and clear compositions that represent an evolution beyond skin scents and single notes. Each perfume is a wonderful change of pace in its own right and demands nothing more from its wearer than the desire to experience something new.”

aloeae – No. 006
The sixth and most recent fragrance in this collection from Nomenclature revolves around the plant real aloe or aloe vera, which I learned today does not actually come from tropical Central and South America – somehow I always thought of it as coming from Mexico or the Caribbean. It is assumed that the plant originally comes from the Arab world and has gradually settled – or been settled, I can’t say for sure – in other regions of the world. In any case, aloe can now be found all over the world in warmer regions, including the Mediterranean.
The eau de parfum by Nomenclature combines notes of aloe vera, bamboo, black tea, bergamot, peppermint, cardamom, cashmere wood, musk and white tea. However, the plant is not the only source of inspiration for the creation; the fragrance is also said to be “the essence of the end of summer”.
And it is precisely for this reason – and because of the ingredients – that I am hoping for a composition that reminds me of the warmth of summer, the colors of spring and the scent of budding nature. Do you need this as much as I do?
Sunlight fades, summer still lingers.
Aloe soothes, memories stay warm.
Bamboo whispers of summer’s touch.
Cool breeze; the scent lingers.
End of summer, but not over yet.
Airy, sweet and green, aloeae is exactly what we hoped for from the outset: a harbinger of spring and a mood booster, a source of hope and relaxation. The eau de parfum lives from the flowing notes of tea, the aquatic, meditative nuances of bamboo and the tart freshness of bergamot, which meet lovely green and invigorating minty accents and spicy, aromatic cardamom. A hint of musk powder ensures pleasantly crystalline moments, while cashmere wood provides velvety-warm and peaceful, cozy facets.
aloeae is a fragrance for all those who prefer Asian-inspired, greenish-meditative and airy-transparent creations with a spring-like flair. Very light, but still present and with a medium lasting effect, the eau de parfum is a modern and timeless composition that can be worn for any occasion. Personally, I would rather use aloeae by Nomenclature in the warmer seasons, in spring or summer, but if you have an acute craving for a greenish, refreshing fragrance, you can of course wear it all year round.
