When I look at the current weather conditions up here on the Baltic Sea, I particularly like to focus on the months of July and August. Despite looking to the past, they give me a faint hope of warmth, sunshine and summer. Without wanting to join the usual lamentations about the weather, I’m more than fed up with the dull gray outside. The last few days have seen brief glimpses of sunshine, before that it felt like it was dark, dreary and constantly cloudy for two to three months. I’m not in the mood for that anymore! I want to see the first early bloomers, see the colors shine and feel a few warming rays of sunshine on my nose. Who else is feeling like this? Let me know in the comments if you feel the same way.
You can find an overview of the months January to June 2024 in the following articles:
July 2024
The summer month of July started here on the blog with an interview and a scented candle. The creative director Julien Pruvost from Carrière Frères first answered my questions in the interview and revealed many exciting details about Frangipani, the latest scented candle in the Museum Collection, as well as about the collection in general. This was followed by a presentation of the French home fragrance brand’s new soap line, with which the label has embarked on a completely new product path (read more here),
After two Top 5 posts under the motto Summer Vibes and Sweet Escape – accompanied as always by limited sample sets – I first presented White Cannabis by Balma Venitia and Sending Love by Zarkoperfume. Then I continued with two brand presentations and their collections. Nectar Olfactif – The Love of Bees and Melipona, Suprême Nectar and Etoile de Bali by Nectar Olfactif were my two articles on the particularly beautiful and honey-heavy line from David Perrin’s French niche fragrance label, which is a real pleasure both visually and olfactorily.
This was immediately followed by a series of reviews of the Marie Jeanne brand, also from France, whose portfolio includes perfumes and aromatherapy fragrances that can be used for rooms, laundry or even the body. I have presented three collections to you here, 12 creations in total:
- Marie Jeanne – From Grasse straight to the heart
- Vétiver Santal and Iris Pallida by Marie Jeanne – Matières Premières Part II
- Héritage Collection by Marie Jeanne – Adèle, Marcel and Léon
- Aromatherapy Collection by Marie Jeanne – fragrances for body, laundry and more
With the reviews Orchid K by Ella K – The scent of the black vanilla orchid and Bonbons à la Violette by New Notes – Lila Duftgenuss, July ended on a wonderfully floral and powdery note and left me full of anticipation for the coming August.
August 2024
Corallium by Carthusia was the first creation I presented to you this month – wonderfully summery – immediately followed by a series of articles on the extremely exciting brand Sabé Masson. The niche fragrance label focuses entirely on alcohol-free compositions, which were launched both in conventional liquid form for spraying and as a cream perfume in stick form. The fragrances can be purchased individually or as a set consisting of spray perfume and solid perfume. I have presented all six Sabé Masson creations in these articles:
- Sabé Masson – Soft perfumes without alcohol
- Et revenir à Soi and Eu Vent de Vous by Sabé Masson – Olfactory meditation
- Georges et Moi, Stiptease Flowers and Zazou by Sabé Masson
After Sabé Masson, we immediately moved on to Aqua Memorabilis by Jovoy and the Ibiza Collection by Ramón Monegal, which includes the wonderfully summery piña colada cracker All Night Long as well as the fragrances Flower Power, La Isla Blanca and Sunset Café. All really great and relaxed creations with a good portion of vacation feeling.
Acne Studios by Frédéric Malle brought us back to Nordic minimalist realms, as the composition by the French cult label is the result of a collaboration with the Swedish fashion brand Acne Studios. An extremely modern, fluffy and powdery-fruity aldehyde fragrance that was also incredibly popular last summer.
From the hip fashion niche fragrance collab to the traditional British fragrance house Penhaligon’s, which this summer presented us with The Dandy, an eau de parfum inspired by the Roaring Twenties. An elegant and glamorous, woody-fruity and gentle whisky fragrance that is simply wonderful.
PERROY relies on the motto Spray your Mood and the creations of the French brand from Les-Eaux-Primordiales founder Arnaud Poulain are just as colorful as they are creative. PERROY – Spray Your Mood and AZUREBLUSH and BLONDPURPLE by PERROY – Pure joie de vivre were the start of my series of reviews on the eight eaux de parfum with the sonorous names and flashy looks.
