303 – Marbre Rouge and 502 – Iris Cartagena by Bon Parfumeur

In the second part of the Les Extraits collection by Bon Par fumeur, I would like to introduce you to the two fragrances 303 – Marbre Rouge and 502 – Iris Cartagena. In my last post Les Extraits by Bon Parfumeur – Let it rip, the creations 104 – Terra Hedera and 107 – Nappa Tuberosa already made their star appearance on this blog. So today we continue and I am very much looking forward to what is in store for me olfactorily today.

Bon Parfumeur - Les Extraits - 303 Marbre Rouge

303 – Marbre Rouge

303 – Marbre Rouge, or red marble, was created by perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur and is inspired by the white marble of the Taj Mahal. The 17th century mausoleum is located in the central Indian city of Agra and was built by the then Grand Mogul Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mamtaz Mahal after she died giving birth to their 14th (!) child.

In the light of sunset or even sunrise, the white marble of the tomb may certainly be bathed in various shades of red and pink, which for me makes the reference to the red marble quite logical. The perfumer combined the ingredients cardamom, pink pepper, chili pepper, ylang-ylang, patchouli, tolu balsam, vetiver, musk and benzoin resin for the extrait de parfum for the Indian landmark.

Inspiration: Full moon night at the Taj Mahal. A night in the gardens of the Taj Mahal. The landscape is warm, the moon is shining, the marble palace is illuminated. “Amazement at the fusion of the cold marble of the Taj Mahal and its garden. With my scent, I bring the flowers to the walls of the palace.” – Ludovic Bonneton

Bon Parfumeur - Les Extraits - 303 Marbre Rouge

303 – Marbre Rouge starts the fragrance with a dry, fruity spiciness, cool and definitely spicy. The chilli pepper brings exciting accents to the composition, lending it special, fresh vegetable nuances that are subtly reminiscent of pepper. Gradually, milky-creamy facets are added, which soften the chilli heat and soothe the creation. Subtle patchouli earthiness meets warm tolu balsam, the creamy notes of vetiver and lovely benzoin resin, which make the fragrance soft, supple and comforting, even if the peppery-fresh bell pepper notes are still perceptible.

303 – Marbre Rouge by Bon Parfumeur is a multi-faceted blend of fruity-spicy chili, creamy blossoms, earthy woods and sensual resins that boasts an exciting fragrance progression and will pique the curiosity of all fans of spicy-cheeky compositions with chili peppers. Finely balanced and well composed, the extrait de parfum is a rather transparent, creamy-soft, calm and modern fragrance companion for every occasion and every occasion. I wouldn’t really make any major seasonal restrictions either, as long as it’s not too warm. 🌶️

502 – Iris Cartagena

Perfumer Clément Marx was responsible for the creation of 502 – Iris Cartagena, which revolves around a very special occasion. Brand founder Ludovic Bonneton’s first date with his wife in Cartagena, Colombia. “A dinner for two, in summer, under the stars. The conversation comes to an end. The tablecloth is stained and crumpled. Coffee, rum and chocolates are served. A calm, warm breeze, a culinary dance of scents.” This inspiration is now the basis for Extrait de Parfum 502 – Iris Cartagena, which combines the ingredients rum, cocoa, mandarin, petitgrain, iris, sandalwood, vanilla, cedarwood, sugar cane, papyrus, vetiver and coffee.

Dark and bitter cocoa meets tipsy, slightly peaty rum in this creation, accompanied by tangy mandarin, which lends lightness and sets fruity accents. Creamy-powdery iris and velvety sandalwood join in, delicately earthy and subtly leathery-ambery. Add a pinch of roasted vanilla sugar … Oh, can it get any more beautiful? A few dark coffee beans provide wonderful, darkly gourmand moments, while the pleasantly warm creaminess of the iris gradually spreads further into the creation. The greenish citrus notes of petitgrain set fruity accents that add excitement to the composition.

502 – Iris Cartagena is a wonderful, not too sweet, not too powdery iris fragrance that creates a wonderfully cozy and gentle atmosphere. The fruity nuances combined with liqueur-like peaty rum and tart coffee facets lend the noble iris particularly seductive, gourmand-fine moments that are enchanting. A really great extrait de parfum that should appeal to anyone who loves relaxed, elegant and velvety-soft compositions based around iris. I am thrilled and am adding this creation to my ever-growing must-have list. ❤️
