On a mission – The Essential Parfums collection

Founded in 2018, the niche fragrance label Essential Parfums had a clear goal in mind from the very beginning: to breathe new life into haute perfumery, to return to authenticity, sustainability and naturalness and to give the creatives, the artists behind the compositions, a special status. Alongside the fragrances, the perfumers are the stars of the brand. Not celebrities who stick their faces out for advertising purposes and have nothing else to do with the eaux de parfum, but those who have been given all the creative freedom by the French label and have turned this carte blanche into olfactory masterpieces.

Essential Parfums - Nice Bergamote

Founder Géraldine Archambault can look back on a long and successful career in the perfume industry. Her parents were already at home in this business and even had their own fragrance house, where Géraldine initially worked before going her own way, which ultimately led to the founding of Essential Parfums.

We created this brand to share our true passion for the art of fragrance – so our priority will always be the fragrance itself and not the bells and whistles that might surround it (like fancy bottles, advertising spend and royalties, which would tend to dilute the essence of perfumery).

As for the ingredients themselves, they are rather rare in the fragrance world due to the high cost and complexity of working with natural materials. But we know they are worth the effort to create fragrances that do justice to every single note. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication and that’s why we focus on a precious handful of natural ingredients rather than a cacophony of synthetics. A signature fragrance should speak for itself.

Nice Bergamote – Antoine Maisondieu

And so we come to the label’s first creation, which was created by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu. Aus Liebe zum Duft contains a large number of compositions created by Maisondieu, who works for Givaudan. He was just as creative for Comme des Garçons as he was for État Libre d’Orange or L’Artisan Parfumeur, to name just a few niche fragrance brands. For Essential Parfums, he created the Eau de Parfum Nice Bergamote, which – nomen est omen – revolves around bergamot combined with jasmine, ylang-ylang, cedarwood and tonka bean.

Nice Bergamote is a soft, pleasant and airy hesperide fragrance with subtly tart and acidic nuances, but also a delicate sweetness. This prevents the citrus notes from becoming too dominant and has a balancing and harmonizing effect. The flowers bring milky, creamy accents to the composition, which continues to revolve around hesperide, while clean, woody cedar provides the perfect finishing touch. The greenish facets of bergamot are subtly underlined by tonka bean.

The eau de parfum is truly nice and therefore ideal for anyone who loves uncomplicated, minimalist citrus fragrances with a summery touch. I would classify the presence as medium, the durability as well. The composition is very harmonious and well-rounded, elegant, modern and refreshing, which makes Nice Bergamote an extremely pleasant and always suitable fragrance companion in the warmer months of the year. A creation that already has me dreaming of higher temperatures and the blossoming season. 🍋☺️💛

Rose Magnetic – Sophie Labbé

Perfumer Sophie Labbé created a rose fragrance for Essential Parfums, namely Rose Magnetic. In her eyes, it was to be a creation that revolved around various rose scents combined with fruity and powdery-musky notes. A glance at the ingredients shows that Labbé has realized exactly this idea olfactorily: Rose, Turkish rose, grapefruit, peppermint, lychee, bourbon vanilla, tonka bean, musk and cedarwood are the fragrance notes of our second candidate from Essential Parfums.

Essential Perfumes - Rose Magnetic

The opening of Rose Magnetic is spring-like and delicate with fine, calm and elegant rose notes, which are soon joined by a subtle citrus freshness and creamy, fruity accents. The vanilla provides a lovely, spicy warmth that is beguiling and seductive and combines beautifully with the rose petals. There is also a hint of sweet, crystalline musk, which underlines the delicate lightness of the composition.

Rose Magnetic is exactly what the name promises. An incredibly beautiful, fascinating rose fragrance that is calming from the very first moment, thoughtful without being melancholy. The creation is light, airy and transparent, yet mature and sophisticated. Perfect for anyone looking for a soap-free, subtle and modern rose fragrance without vintage vibes and nostalgic charm that is firmly anchored in the here and now and is simply enchanting. Even rose skeptics might be swayed by this eau de parfum. An absolute must-try for anyone who loves beautiful and rather restrained floral fragrances. ❤️
