Today I am delighted to present you with an interview with Jonathan Dufour, founder of the Spiritum brand. I have already introduced you to the label’s fragrances on this blog and am happy to link to them again here. The French niche fragrance house Spiritum takes us into a very special olfactory world that is characterized by spirituality and numerology. But our interview guest today will tell you all about it himself, because after all, the best way to find out is at first hand. As a highlight, there’s also a prize draw. Great, isn’t it?

Dear Jonathan, would you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us a little about yourself and your career to date?
I was born in the north of France in 1991, I am 33 years old. My higher education was in catering, inspired by my experience helping out in my mother’s restaurant, where I developed a strong affinity for human interaction. Between the ages of 20 and 27, I opened several clothing stores and a restaurant. However, I later decided to change careers and moved from the north of France to Paris. I spent three years as the director of a niche perfume house before launching my own brand, Spiritum Paris.
When did you realize that you had a special relationship with fragrances?
Even as a child, around the age of five, I was captivated by my mother’s perfume, Opium by Saint Laurent. I also had a tendency of climbing trees, and the scent they left on my hands fascinated me.
How did you come to found your own fragrance brand Spiritum?
I created my perfume house Spiritum Paris following a shamanic and spiritual retreat in Peru.
What values does your brand embody?
The values of Spiritum Paris are love and authenticity. I created Spiritum with the intention of sharing the significance of numerology with the world, helping people become more aware of the meanings behind numbers.
Numerology inspired you to design your first collection. What exactly is it about and what do numbers mean to you?
During a shamanic retreat, I was introduced to my life path number, which is Number 1. This experience sparked my interest, leading me to study and understand the meanings behind each number. I then channeled my creativity into translating these meanings into unique fragrances, giving each number its own scent.
You also have this exciting numerology tool on your homepage. How does it work and what does the result say? My fragrance, for example, was 33 – Cosmos Guide, which I think is really great, by the way.
To find your life path number, you simply add up all the digits in your date of birth and reduce the total to a single digit, except for the numbers 11, 22, and 33, which are considered master numbers. If your result is one of these master numbers, you don’t reduce it further. Each number carries its own unique significance and can offer insights into your personality and life path.
You worked with the perfumers Bertrand Duchaufour and Philippe Paparella-Paris. How did the collaboration go and to what extent were you involved in the development?
Working with Philippe Paparella-Paris and Bertrand Duchaufour was a natural choice for me, as I deeply resonate with their creations. I was confident they could bring my vision for Spiritum to life. I was closely involved in the development process, ensuring that the final product truly reflected my concept.
What do you think is special about the Spiritum collection?
I believe I am the first in the world of niche perfumery to translate the meaning and energy of numbers. Spiritum Paris is an authentic brand that comes from the heart and is deeply connected to the spiritual essence of numerology.
Do you currently have a favorite raw material that particularly inspires you?
Yes, I am a fan of sandalwood, frankincense and sage. These three ingredients form the basis for all Spiritum creations.
What can we expect from Spiritum in the future?
Spiritum Paris is more than just a fragrance house inspired by numerology. We will continue to explore the spiritual world and delve into areas such as shamanism, tantra and soon psychedelism.

What I find particularly exciting about Spiritum is the combination of fragrances with numerology and spirituality.
