The French fragrance house Maison Francis Kurkdjian is also bringing us a new launch, namely APOM. A word that may seem puzzling at first glance, but I would of course like to quickly explain to you what exactly it stands for. It is the abbreviation for A Part of Me. Francis Kurkdjian is convinced that a fragrance is always a part of the person who wears it. It is what is left behind when you leave the room. A perfume emphasizes the aura of the wearer by merging with the skin and developing its very own dynamic and character.
In his eyes, a fragrance always says something about the person wearing it. Because you naturally wear what best suits your current mood and emphasizes a person’s charisma. In addition, you only use perfumes that suit your personal taste. With every fragrance, you make a statement – consciously or unconsciously – which can be different every day depending on the size of your perfume collection.
I think this is a really exciting topic and something that we probably don’t give much thought to in everyday life, even though our sense of smell plays such an important role in our lives. I also use very different fragrances in the morning, depending on my current mood, the weather outside or a particular occasion. You probably feel the same way, don’t you? How do you choose your fragrances for the day and how much thought do you give to what the perfume you choose might say about you?
APOM – Orange blossom meets lavender
Maison Francis Kurkdjian describes the recently launched creation as a “poetic, mysterious experience”. Fifteen years ago, two fragrances were launched under the names APOM Femme and APOM Homme. In the meantime, at least the Femme version is no longer being produced and I very much suspect that the Homme edition will also be discontinued, if this has not already happened. I couldn’t find anything about it online.
Reinterpreted and relaunched, the 2024 version of APOM revolves around a fragrance note that was also a central theme in the earlier creations: orange blossom. But that’s not all. It combines ingredients from the earlier, gender-specific eaux de parfum with new olfactory ingredients to create a unisex fragrance that combines orange blossom, lavender, ylang-ylang, vanilla, ambergris and musk.
Is APOM a part of me?
My nose says yes! Right from the start, the creation is a beautiful, sunny and light orange blossom fragrance that is so wonderfully summery, carefree and optimistic. The creamy and fruity notes of the protagonist are surrounded by the subtle herbaceous freshness of lavender. With its milky floral floral facets, ylang-ylang adds soft tropical accents that blend wonderfully with the orange blossom.
Velvety ambergris and the finest vanilla create a sweet, spicy and woody warmth that reminds me of soft rays of sunshine tickling the tip of my nose. Musk lends APOM the finest and most delicate powder notes, which are cloaked in lucid white and beautifully underline the comforting coziness of the composition.
Fans of orange blossom, summery, airy fragrances with a Mediterranean flair and a good dose of vacation vibes are sure to enjoy APOM. In fact, the creation reminds me of the Mediterranean region, the French Riviera, the beach, the sun and much, much more. Very casual and carefree, the eau de parfum breathes sweet idleness in an incredibly modern and elegant way. A fragrance to dream about, to fall in love with, which is absolutely suitable for every occasion and every season, although I would tend to wear it more in spring and summer. A must-try for fans of MFK anyway, but also for anyone who loves calm, relaxed and luxurious fragrance compositions based around a sunny orange blossom. 💛
