Otimo was only launched at the end of last week and today I can already present the extrait de parfum from the Swiss niche fragrance label pernoire here on our blog. It is the eighth fragrance in the collection with the beautiful and characteristic black bottles, which are kept very minimalist and only feature the name of the fragrance and a matching sketch.
pernoire in the fragrance diary
The two young and likeable founders of pernoire – Nico Mannino and Robin Dünner – were kind enough to answer my questions in an interview last December and revealed some exciting details and background information. I have also presented the collection to you here in several posts. I would like to list all of this below for anyone who would like to find out more or simply read it again:

Otimo – Elixir of pride
Otimo is all about pride. Pernoire describes the creation, which bears the image of a phoenix, as an “alchemical force” and an “elixir of pride”. The mythological figure of the proud bird, which resurrects from its own remains – commonly referred to as ashes – after its death, is therefore symbolic of the extrait de parfum, which contains the ingredients quince, cardamom, rum, tobacco, gourmand notes, patchouli, tonka bean, cedarwood, vanilla and osmanthus. This indicates an expressive creation, which – as usual with pernoire – was created by Swiss perfume artist Andreas Wilhelm.
After a defeat, the phoenix rises even prouder, mightier and more majestic. Undeterred by obstacles, it rises higher, determined to surpass its goals. An embodiment of pride and the indomitable spirit that surpasses all expectations.
Be olfactorily proud with Otimo
Right from the start, Otimo reveals a warmth and comfort that I find incredibly appealing. The aromatic-greenish freshness of cardamom meets liqueur-like rum, accompanied by the honey-golden nuances of tobacco, which lends the creation a wonderfully velvety and profound sweetness. The scent of fine, velvety fruit – possibly from the aforementioned quince or is it osmanthus after all? – provides a certain lightness, while soft, praline-like gourmand notes gradually flow into the composition.
A hint of light woody and subtly smoky patchouli creaminess joins in, as does the greenish vanilla spice of the tonka bean, which throws itself almost gleefully into the olfactory hustle and bustle. In the finish, Otimo by pernoire becomes lighter, airier and more transparent and ends with the powdery, warm and velvety notes of cedar and osmanthus.
I’ll tell you how it is: fall can come for me fragrance-wise. For me, Otimo fits perfectly into the cooler season. A powerful yet transparent extrait de parfum that is wonderfully warm, cozy and comfortable. Ideal for anyone who loves spicy, not overly sweet gourmand creations that are stylish, elegant and extremely modern on the olfactory scene. Unisex and wearable for any occasion, whether at work, in your free time, going out in the evening or for a cozy Sunday afternoon on the sofa with a cup of hot chocolate in your hand and the fire crackling in the background. Beautiful to fall in love with! 🖤
