On the weekend, I did a little poll on our Instagram account asking which fragrance I should review next. The result was quite clear: Magic Mushrooms from Bohocobo. Your wish is my command, of course, and so below you will find my review of the aforementioned creation, which is an extrait de parfum, by the way.
Bohoboco in the Duft-Tagebuch
Once again, we are dealing with Bohoboco, a brand that has been a regular guest on our fragrance blog for years. I have linked you to the last three posts about the Polish label with the fashion background, in which I presented you the creations Yellow Rose Incense, Dark Vinyl Musk, Wet Cherry Liquor, Wild Carrot Oud, Jasmine White Leather and Eternal Lily Amber:
- Yellow Rose Incense and Dark Vinyl Musk – Two new fragrances by Bohoboco
- Wet Cherry Liquor and Wild Carrot Oud by Bohoboco – Fruity Pleasure
- Jasmine White Leather and Eternal Lily Amber by Bohoboco
Today we are entering a whole new olfactory world with Magic Mushrooms and Bohoboco. On the one hand, the subject matter is certainly unconventional. Even though we have had the pleasure of getting to know a number of cannabis-related fragrances – such as Sweet Leaf by Room 1015, the Cannabis Collection by Bois 1920 or Last Call to Ibiza by Len, to name just a few – a composition based around magic mushrooms is something new.
Magic Mushrooms – Bohoboco
With Magic Mushrooms, Bohoboco takes us into a whole new and exciting world of fragrances, although I very much expect to be spared any hallucinogenic experiences. And so the ingredients of this extrait de parfum are quite opulent and striking: Cypress, grapefruit, cardamom, mushrooms, blackcurrant, herbs, thyme, lavender, clove, davana, immortelle (Italian immortelle), ylang-ylang, cannabis, licorice, patchouli, vetiver and Moss Michał Gilbert Lach unites for the latest creation, which is intended to express his “lifelong connection to magic and spirituality”.
The mushrooms mentioned by name (exciting!) can be found in the fragrance notes as well as the cannabis already mentioned. The Bohoboco label is known for its extravagant, often unconventional and multi-faceted creations with exciting ingredients and I am sure that the brand will remain true to this line with Magic Mushrooms.
Magic Mushrooms is an olfactory journey to the essence of life, revealed as a higher purpose. This magical symphony encourages you to follow the tender desires of your heart. The fragrance notes weave a fascinating story of mystical depth and spiritual lightness.
Right from the start, Magic Mushrooms reveals clearly woody coniferous nuances, which are refined with grapefruit. The cypress and citrus fruit get along perfectly, soon accompanied by greenish-aromatic herbal notes with a certain astringency. I perceive the mushrooms in the form of rooty, earthy notes, in which delicate mushroomy accents can certainly be found. I can clearly smell the immortelle, which stands out from the composition with its celery-like herbal facets, and also the cannabis with its spicy-green and penetrating accents. The lovely, creamy nuances of liqueur-like davana and milky ylang-ylang have a soothing effect, heralding the way to the base. Calmer and more subtle, Magic Mushrooms gradually fades away with smooth woody and earthy-bright notes of patchouli, vetiver and moss.
The extrait de parfum from Bohoboco is another extraordinary fragrance that plays with woody-spicy-citrusy and aromatic-herbal nuances, revealing stunning rough edges. Not an everyday fragrance and perhaps a little bulky for some. I personally find it wonderfully multi-faceted, atmospheric and sublime. A great mix that smells of forest, herbs, spices and woods and makes me think of adventures in nature, of enchanted forests and fascinating clearings, of wafts of mist drifting through dense greenery, earthy and close to nature. A really great and exciting composition that not only arouses curiosity by name and belongs on the must-try list of all those who prefer greenish-tart and unusual creations. 🍄🔮🪄
